The Procurement Manager at Axiom will lead development of supply strategies and implement these strategies through the development of processes, completion of projects and completion of contract negotiations. This includes active management of all aspects of the supplier engagement strategy, supplier performance tracking, and close partnership with Axiom R&D, Technical, and Quality functions to identify, develop and qualify new sources and products to support our aggressive growth strategies. This will also include active partnership across Kordsa North America Composites sites to identify and implement best practices and drive market innovations into supply strategies that create benefit across the company.
Additional responsibilities include overseeing all aspects of inventory management, coordinating with suppliers and logistics partners for timely deliveries, and ensuring smooth and efficient warehouse operations.
The successful candidate will be highly skilled at assessing markets, leveraging competition, and negotiating supply agreements to provide long-term supply assurance and cost advantages to Axiom.
Essential Functions
Strategic Sourcing Process
- Lead the Strategic Sourcing process, including implementation of short and long-term category/product specific strategies and plans that align with the company goals for increasing revenue, reducing costs and financial targets through improved performance and long-term supplier relationships
- Effectively document, communicate, and gain buy-in for the strategies from global and regional function and Operations leaders
- Develop and execute a Strategic Sourcing playbook, including RFI’s, RFP’s and RFQs and selection criteria that drives the selection and approval process of suppliers
- Leverages Kordsa corporate and Composites BU sites and 3rd party subject matter experts to secure information on industry category trends, benchmarking, anud best practice.
- Negotiations
- Develop negotiation strategies, gain alignment from stakeholders, lead cross-functional, category-based negotiation teams, and implement supplier contracts
- Negotiate contractual terms regarding cost, delivery, quality, transportation, and other standard or special contract terms
- Manage contracts risk analysis, contract reviews and contractual dispute resolutions
Supplier Management
- Manage the ongoing performance of our suppliers including setting objectives and service level agreements (SLAs), tracking and reporting KPI performance, supplier scorecards, and prioritizing and leading improvement efforts were warranted
- Balance current and future demand requirements with supplier capabilities/capacity assessments and compliance to policy/quality standards
Warehouse, shipping & receiving
- Oversee warehouse operations, shipping, and receiving processes to ensure efficient inventory management and timely order fulfillment.
- Coordinate with suppliers and logistics partners to optimize delivery schedules, monitor inventory levels, and maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols, quality control measures, and best practices in warehouse operations to maximize productivity and minimize errors.
Business acumen/analytics
- Analyze markets and develop cost reduction and negotiation strategies
- Assess business risks and opportunities to drive supply chain strategies
- Performs cost analysis with a thorough understanding of total cost factors
- Maintain purchase price and raw material price trends and analysis
- Identify process improvement opportunities, design implementation strategies and solutions, develop test scenarios and drive overall implementation of the change and/or improvements
Leadership
- Collaborate across the various functions to ensure business objectives are met
- Interacts with stakeholders to develop, engage and lead supplier relationships that drive the greatest value in supplier quality, total cost effectiveness, enhanced service levels, risk management, sustainability, supplier diversity, and innovation
- Change agent with ability to influence at all levels of the organization and with suppliers
- Ability to transfer essential knowledge and mentor other team members on specialized skills
- Strong teamwork skills. Able to develop consensus and move the program forward.
R&D/Supplier Development
- Partner with peers in the Quality, R&D and Technical functions to ensure suppliers can support new product development projects and product launches
- Implements design changes and manages the execution of changes with suppliers
Physical Demands
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required and physical cycle count on the Production floor. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
Required Education and Experience
- BA/BS degree; Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Finance, Business or Engineering or equivalent Supply Chain Management experience
- CPM, CPIM (APICS), or other Strategic Sourcing certification a plus
- Training in one or more developmental areas (i.e. negotiation, contract writing, cost analysis, legal, leadership development, etc.)
- Basic knowledge of Quality Management Systems (AS9100, ISO 9000 or equivalent) and ecommerce a plus
Preferred Experience
- 7-10 years strategic sourcing, contract, and category management experience
- 2+ years of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership (e.g., Director level and above) ,3+ in a leadership role with or without direct reports
- RFI, RFQ, RFP and/or bid analysis experience required
